On-site management and security...

The success of KSP to date has been built on a number of critical success factors including:

  • A distinctive ‘can do’ client focussed management ethos that addresses the needs of growth businesses
  • Development of a balanced offering combining incubation and grow on space for growth businesses alongside accommodation for more established businesses.
  • Tenants benefit from an Ethernet POP connection that facilitates fast broadband and almost unlimited business connectivity
  • A management support service that includes introductions to potential customers and financiers through the well-established/highly successful Sittingbourne SEEDA Enterprise Hub and through its links to a broad knowledge network, in partnership with Locate in Kent and the University of Kent .

A highly secure environment in which to work

Occupants of the Kent Science Park appreciate the high level of security that the site provides.

The site has a security gatehouse manned 24 hours/day who monitor the fixed CCTV surveillance on all the fence line and movable cameras within the site.

CCTV
The perimeter fence and buildings are covered by a comprehensive surveillance system with night vision.

High Security Perimiter Fencing
The entire site is protected by a 3 metre high welded mesh fence which is double thickness up to 1 metre from the ground, this is topped by 3 layers of razor wire. The whole fence is also alarmed and will detect someone trying to cut through it or climb over it.

Site and Building Access Control
Every employee of the companies located at KSP is issued with a security swipe card pass enabling the employee to enter or leave through the barriers at the main gate. If the tenant wishes, the Cotag access control system can be provided for their building. This has the advantage that it works with the passive access cards provided to all tenants for access to the site.

This same card can then give controlled access to individual buildings or rooms within buildings. It is fully programmable and can give many levels of access control.

Controlled Access to the Site
A manned gatehouse controls the main vehicle and pedestrian access to the site 24 hours of the day. Electronically controlled turnstiles provide secondary secure access to the site.

An electronic access system is available for disabled drivers.

No visitor is allowed on site unless the company they are visiting gives them permission to enter the site.
