Expanding your Business into Europe

16 September 2010

08.30 - 11.00 including breakfast buffet

Kent Science Park has teamed up with Enterprise Europe Network to host an essential workshop for any company looking to trade in Europe. In this workshop you will find out:

  • How to trade in Europe and find the right partner[s] to do so.
  • How to access available EU funding.
  • How to develop, license and market your innovation.
  • How to protect and exploit your innovative products or services.

Valerie Pondaven, will begin the workshop by providing you with key information on how your business can successfully exploit the European market and the free services available from Enterprise Europe. She will also present the new ‘partner finder’ online tool which can help you locate the right European partner for you, whether it be an agent, distributer, manufacturer or supplier.

Funding is key, but how do you get it? In this next section Richard Hall will explain what EU funding is available for you and your business. He will talk you through all the options and provide you with essential tips on the best ways to obtain the financial support you require.

Tim Benzie will then explain how the Enterprise Europe's network of 44 countries and 572 member organisations can help your company find the right partner, fast. Tim will highlight the various mechanisms by which the Network helps businesses who have an innovation they would like to develop, license or market. These include:

  • An online database of more than 13,000 technology profiles;
  • innovation matchmaking via a team of technology consultants;
  • linking with partners at inbound and outbound missions and networking events;
  • and by advertising your particular technology to untapped markets.

With many of the services free of charge, this expansive, EU and regionally funded project is aimed at saving you time and money, and reducing risk.

The development of innovative products and services is what drives business and in this final section, Irfan Baluch, head of Vertex Law LLP’s Technology & Media Team, will look at:

  • What are typical forms of intellectual property that arise?
  • Why, how and when should you take steps to protect your innovations?
  • How can you commercialise the intellectual property that you have protected?

To finish the floor will be open for questions and networking.
